Tom Shapcott: Contents page Tom Shapcott (b.1935) was born one of twins. His adult life has been divided into three stages: 1960–1978 as a Public Accountant (and poet); 1983–1997 as an Arts Administrator (and poet, also novelist); 1997+ as an academic (and poet, also novelist). His first published collection of poems was Time on Fire (1961) which won the Grace Leven Prize. His most recent collection is Chekhov’s Mongoose (2000) and there are a dozen or so collections in between. Since then he has published a chapbook of sonnets (Beginnings & Endings) and another chapbook, Music Circus. His seventh novel, Spirit Wrestlers, was published in 2004. |
