Judith Rodriguez (b.1936) was born Judith Green in Perth and grew up in Brisbane. She studied at the University of Queensland, and has taught literature and writing at universities and colleges in Jamaica, London and Australia. She now lives in Melbourne with her husband Tom Shapcott. Her first book of poetry was Nu-Plastik Fanfare Red (1973) and she had gone on to publish several more books of poems, including the prize-winning Water Life and Mudcrab at Gambaro’s and New and Selected Poems (1988). Her anthology Mrs Noah and the Minoan Queen provided the first substantial posthumous recognition of poet Jennifer Rankin’s achievement. Following this, Judith edited Jennifer Rankin: Collected Poems.
