David Malouf: Contents page

David Malouf (b.1934) grew up in Brisbane and taught school in England for a decade in the 1960s, and lectured at the University of Sydney in the 1970s. His first book of poems was Bicycle and Other Poems (UQP, 1970) and he has gone on to write many more, though he is best known as a novelist. His eight novels have won many literary prizes, including the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, the Prix Femina Etranger and the inaugural IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. He has also written opera libretti, collections of essays, novellas, drama and short fiction. David Malouf lives in Sydney.
